Every person who purchased or built a house, organizes basic life-support systems so that he was there as comfortable as possible. This is especially true of heating systems. Also, when I built a house, began to think about what kind of heating system is efficient and economical to install. First of all, I compared the main existing heating system with alternative non-traditional systems, and more specifically, with heating systems using jet pumps.
Comparison of jet pump systems
Today the most common pump systems, home or cottage is a system that uses as an energy source natural gas. This relatively inexpensive heating, but the main drawback is the instability of the pressure in the incoming gas pipeline, which naturally affects the stability of the gas boiler, leading to its rapid deterioration and failure. If used as an energy source, electricity, these systems are characterized by stability and efficiency. But I had a reason to abandon this option in mind uneconomical because heat house of 250 m2, spent a considerable amount of electrical energy. In other words, the need for a thermal power of approximately 15 kW, I would have spent the same amount of electricity. Option to diesel boilers and boilers for solid fuels, I immediately threw away, because the first case is rather expensive, and the second is very inconvenient and requires constant monitoring and maintenance in the form of cleaning the boiler from the combustion products. The most interesting was a variant with a heating system for my home with a jet pump. The energy source for jet pump system with a natural warmth of the earth’s crust, which has a constant temperature throughout the year. After reviewing the basic jet pump manufacturers, I found that my home area of ??250 m2 can install a jet pump, for example, FloForce , which consumes energy slightly less than 4 kW and produces thermal energy of almost 17 kW. In other words, the jet pump to provide the required power, takes 80% of energy from the earth, that is a gift. In addition, the work of a heating system is highly reliable and environmentally clean, and fully automated. So I decided to use to heat your home with well pump system. Having defined the type of heating system, I am left to pick up the necessary equipment, and to determine the requirements and nuances for its implementation.
Selection of a jet pump
- Determination of the heat source. Given that the share of spending goes to the collector and the laying of its purchase, I paid great attention to the choice of heat source. There are four main heat source for jet pump – is the soil, air, water and related wells (ground water).
The cheapest option is to install an air jet pump, which does not require the excavation and drilling operations. But using this type of jet pump is limited to local climatic conditions, since at very low temperature jet pump loses efficiency. The cost of placing the collector at the bottom of the pond as a small, but near my house there is no water, so I abandoned that idea. jet pump using as a source of ground water has the highest efficiency, because the water temperature in the well is always constant. Organization of district heating using a jet pump requires the drilling of wells, so the costs are much higher. But the choice of this source is also due to the presence of groundwater at the site.
- What better heat exchangers: horizontal or vertical?
The use of soil as a heat source in two ways: by using the horizontal and vertical collector. jet pumps “soil-water” characterized by high reliability and durability. That is why I chose this type of jet pump. Then, I came across a choice between horizontal and vertical collector. If you run a horizontal collector, you should consider several factors: the presence of adjacent buildings and communications, the presence of a large area open to direct sunlight. In addition, it is necessary to take into account that the temperature of the surface layer of the soil depends on the time of day and season, so these systems are less efficient, although they are low cost.
Construction of a vertical heat exchanger is possible in any place and at any weather conditions. Installation costs are much higher since it requires a drilling depth of 150 m, and the effectiveness and durability of high, because the soil temperature at great depths is always stable.
- Is it possible to drill wells in the area?
So, I settled on the jet pump with a vertical heat exchanger, after clarifying the possibility of drilling a well on my site. This depended on several factors, chief among which is the geological feature of the site. On this will depend on the cost of drilling, which is directly proportional to the depth of wells.
- In what way will heat the room?
Depending on how the building will be heated (via radiators or underfloor heating) will depend on the efficiency of the heating system. This is because the smaller the temperature difference between the source and the heating circuit gives a great performance. FloForce jet pumps can heat the room through underfloor heating and radiators, but is most effective to use hot-water heating, the pipes are located on the floor. So I chose the heating system “warm floor”.
- Whether the jet pump to work as a system of air cooling?
If you want the jet pump is operated in the cooling in the hot season, it must be like “water-water” or “ground-water,” which is a jet pump weswen. Since I had already decided on the type of jet pump, you only have to take care of reversing valve.
- What kind of operating a jet pump?
There is a monovalent and bivalent form of the jet pump operation. In the first case, as the sole source of heat in the room acts as a jet pump, which is effective at the maximum operating temperature to 55 ° C. In the second case, a jet pump works in conjunction with other conventional heat source. Today, the existing capacity of jet pumps can heat the house of 250 m2 without a second heat source, so I stopped at the mono-mode.
- What should be the capacity of the pump for the house? How to calculate?
The choice of jet pump capacity is estimated to have performed on the basis of the initial conditions. Given the area of ??my house (250m2), the thermal conductivity as a function of the insulation is about 14 kW. Given the temperature of the coolant in the system (35 ° C), the jet pump is selected from the nearest power of, for example, the jet pump capacity of 16.9 kW, 3.6 kW power input. After that, based on the heat removal of soil, which for my area is 20 W / m (dry clay), special formulas are defined: the heat capacity of the reservoir, the depth and diameter of the probe.
Water pumps have different power (5-1290 kW), work effectively for heating the room through underfloor heating and radiators. In addition, allow you to organize hot water throughout the year, and in the hot season can run as a conditioner. The work of the jet pump is fully automated. Of the main devices of the heating system FloForce jet pump are three heat exchangers, compressor, expansion vessel and jet pump. The expansion tank acts as a heat accumulator and increases the efficiency of the system as a whole. In addition, these jet pumps are esthetically pleasing and easy to use. A high efficiency and reliability, along with increased use of security can reduce the heating costs to a minimum.
