If the septic systems are properly maintained in proper working conditions, the sewage system will occasionally come into contact with solid wastes. Solid wastes are responsible for clogging up of the screens. For proper functioning of the pumps and the entire sewage system, sanction screens must be kept clean. Provided the prohibition screens are not clean, clogging of the entire pump will appear and the pump will not perform to the desired levels. Clogging up of the screens prevents waste waters and effluents form flowing into the pump. It is wise to check the pumps, at least on a monthly basis, for indication of trash and solid waste build ups.
Electrical splices submerged in water should be eliminated. This is because electrical splices can tolerate water into electrical connections causing power shortages to the ground and pump tripping off the power lines.
