PEX x copper fitting adapter to use PEX pipes along side traditional copper pipes
It is a device which is used to join a copper fitting with a PEX pipes. It is a short pipe with ends of different diameters to accommodate pipes of different sizes and materials as well. The basic difference in the various kinds of adapters is the method of joining the pipe with it. Some have to be soldered and some have to be threaded. The other difference is the placement of the pipe. When the pipe is placed into the arm of the adapter it is the female type and when the pipe surrounds the adapter arms it is the male style. The difference in the style is just for the convenience. All the adapters are of equal use and the situation decides the type of adapter which is most suitable in a given scenario.
PEX x copper fitting adapter is a male kind of adapter where the adapter’s arm fit into the copper pipe. The inner side of the copper pipe and the outer side of the adapter have to be sanded and fluxed for soldering. The soldering has to be done just as any copper pipe is soldered. After the fitting is done the pipes cover up the whole device and only a small ring like structure can be seen.
The PEX x copper fitting adapter comes in six different combinations. The diameters of the two sides of the adapter are different with two styles of fixing. The larger one is generally for the copper pipe which has to be soldered. There are three different sizes in combination with five sizes of PEX pipes. For every size of copper pipe there are two adapters with two different PEX pipe size. These adapters are made of brass.
The sweat style copper and adapter joint has to be soldered first and cooled before the PEX pipe is fixed to the adapter. Clamped or crimped style is used to join the PEX pipes to the adapter in turn to complete the water supply system. PEX pipes can be attached to an already existing water supply system using adapters. Traditionally copper pipes where used for the supply of water into homes and PEX is relatively new product which has to be used along side the copper systems.
